Study and library

A library focused on cultural publications and professional magazines, catalogues, CDs and others, naturally enlarged by an Internet cafe, and tee room. Artists, visual artists, participants of theatre performances meet visitors of KulturFabrik in the cafe, contact with creators of the program is formed here, spectators have the chance to perceive art as a space for living people. In connection with the café, the possibility of creating an experimental form of canteen/cafeteria is possible, this idea is not new, as a connection between creative space and gastronomy has been used already in the legendary Bauhaus.

The exposition project presents not only the contemporary fine arts, but also design.

Residential program

In this program artists will have the chance to work/reside in equipped ateliers from one to three months. In the premises of KulturFabrik there will be a workshop with basic technical equipment for the needs of artists. One or two times a year, the term for presenting applications for residence will be publicised, in co-operation with Slovak and foreign professional press and cultural institutions. The artists will be chosen by a commission composed of competent professionals. The artists will of course have the opportunity to invite guests to visit their ateliers (studios) during the program, too. It will be possible to organize single ateliers open to the public. At the end of the residential program there will be an open exhibition, presenting the results of artists' work created during the residence period.

Workshops, ateliers

It is important to mention that apart from the exhibitions of actual alternative art, there will be creative workshops with well-known personalities from Slovakia or from abroad included in the project at the same time. Their target group will be composed not only of students and young artists, but also of children and the general public. The children will have a space where art will be introduced to them in the form of entertainment and where they will reflect their observations in a creative way with the help of art students.

Base for other projects, activities
and organisations

KulturFabrik will be a place of realization for other social-cultural projects of a wider range, such as a contact centre for homeless people based on a street paper, sheltered workshop for handicapped people, editor's office of a revue, gymnasium Ð dancing studio, internet broadcasting, internet server for culture and information centre, centre of art therapy. A small publishing house (or a residence of an already existing publishing house) publishing progressive literature, music, as well as publications documenting and presenting activities of KulturFabrik should connect to these. The project includes also minimal accommodation directly on the premises, not only for the needs of the residential program.
A small recording studio, rehearsal room, rooms for workshops, a book and CD store and others can be a part of the project, too. These can, together with a small movie and graphic studio and other small outlets, be potential sources of income necessary for the operation of the whole complex.
